To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Review

I just finished this book last night, & being a fan of “The Summer I Became Pretty” by the same author (Jenny Han) I was excited to read this book. Now, the story didn’t disappoint me whatsoever. It was a cute story and it kept me interested throughout the whole book. But, I was disappointed that there was no character growth from the main character (Lara Jean). At the end of the book she realizes that she is scared to fall in love. But doesn’t do much about it. The story is about Lara Jean’s secret love letter being mailed by accident & the troubles they cause. I won’t give too much info away, because I do think you should read it. It was a great summer read.

Trying New Things

Trying New

So ever since I’ve got back home I’ve been trying some new stuff. First, I’ve been watching Orange is the New Black. Now I know the cliche of saying oh it’s so good, best TV show on Netflix blah blah blah. Now, I’m usually not one for dramas… I have enough drama in my life and I can usually only handle about a season of drama TV shows. BUT OITNB is a really great drama/comedic show. The acting is superb and I like how it shows the systems problems. Like spending prison money on cars and houses and not on the inmates who should have it. Yes, they are considered criminals, but they still have basic human rights, nobody should take that away from them. This is a really great show and everyone should watch it.

Next, today I got my MateFit Tea in the mail. WHOOP! I’m so excited. The detox and the metabolism booster are supposed to help you loose weight WITH workout and eating right of course. I’m VERY particular of what weight supplements and teas that I purchase. I did some research into this Mate Fit Tea and so far so good. So I’ll keep my blog updated 🙂

Weddings, Mythical Creatures and Love Stories.

Weddings, Mythical Creatures and Love Stories.

Holy crap. Sorry I haven’t been blogging at all lately. I went home for 2 weeks and just kind of laid in bed and ate my mom’s food for 2 weeks. It was wonderful. I also went to my childhood best friend’s wedding….and yes I did tear up. It’s crazy to think that most of my friends are getting married or having kids… I’m not really sure how to feel about that fact in my life.

I also went to a few movies, including X-Men and The FREAKing FAULt In Our STaRs. UGH. First, X-Men wAS so AMAziNG OkAy. Being a fan of the original X-Men (with Halle Barry and Ellen Page) I was a bit upset when they decided to recreate X-Men with a different cast. The first retake of X-Men: First Class (in 2011), directed by Matthew Vaughn (he directed Kick-Ass) was good, nothing special. Although, I was impressed with the cast. Being a huge fan of Skins UK I was pleased to see Nicholas Hoult as Beast, and then there is freaking Jennifer Lawrence who is just amazing in every possible way. (I’m also VERY happy they’re dating). THEN X-Men: Days of Future Past, directed by Bryan Singer (who directed the original X-Men movies) came out. Let me just say…. bringing back the original characters was BRILLIANT. I was so happy, it made the movie THAT MUCH BETTER. I won’t give away too many spoilers…but basically the synopsis is Professor X and Magneto ask Logan (Wolverine) to go back in time and change the doings of Mystique (played by Jennifer Lawrence) so that the future is better for their kind. It’s a really great movie for all sci-fi, comic book lovers.

NEXT… The Fault In Our Stars…. Oh my god…. just oh my god. I’m not sure how to put my feelings of this movie into words. My heart still hurts from watching it. (I saw it Thursday). Being a fan of the book since it came out I was worried that the movie was going to ruin the story. But I put my faith in John Green (the author of the book) and this brilliant piece of art came to be. John Green stated that he wanted to movie to be faithful to the book, and by golly it is. Yes, it does skip a few scenes from the book, but that doesn’t mean that the movie sucked because of those few scenes. It followed the book page by page (no exaggeration). It was the most incredible movie I have seen this year. Josh Boone is a spectacular director (he also directed Stuck in Love which I also recommend watching). I was watching an interview with him and he said that finding the right music really sets the mood in any movie, and TFIOS is no exception. Music describes feelings better than words and I think Boone did a fantastic job in selecting the tracks for the movie. Shailene Woodley… oh that girl can act. Holy crap. Being an actress myself I find it whenever I watch movies I usually pick out something that the actor/actress should have not done in their role. But she portrayed Hazel Grace Lancaster perfectly. Their were no flaws in her acting. I simply adore this lady. After seeing TFIOS I look up to her as not just an actress, but a person. She is truly a role model for all generations to come. Then we have the stud Ansel Elgort who played Augustus Waters. Funny, when I read the book that is how I picture Gus to look like. He did a phenomenal job playing the role of Gus. Thank you Ansel and Hazel for bringing their love story to life. And last, but not least… Nat Wolff as the character Isaac. Wow. Just Wow. I really loved the witty character of Isaac in the book and Nat was perfect for the role. Yes, even though in the book he had blond hair (get over it) that doesn’t mean he wasn’t perfect for the role. He was sarcastic and witty just like the book’s description. So please, for your own sake just see it. See it and you’ll understand why I have no words for this movie. I do recommend you read the book though.

So that’s it for 2 weeks. Sorry it’s a lot of words… 🙂

Oh The Places You’ll Go

So I’ve been trying to blog at least once a week, I’d like to blog more but it’s hard with school and work. BUT good news, I finished my last final of my sophomore year at Arizona. THANK GOD. Two As and two Bs, not to shabby eh? Even though I’ll be staying here for the summer, I’ll be going back home for a few weeks until my family goes to San Diego. 😀 SO FREAKING EXCITED. San Diego is so magical, it’s like L.A. but with less traffic and the smell of the ocean in the air. Speaking of California, my dad and I visited Azusa Pacific University last Thursday. It was so cute and small. I’m so excited to be attending school there next year. The campus looked like the backlot of NBC/Universal Studios, like where are the dressing rooms are. That was pretty damn spectacular. Then I found a “Oh The Places You’ll Go” cup in the bookstore. Ironically enough, senior year in high school my math teacher read that book to us on the last day of classes, and I always wondered why she read it…. not that I don’t love that book (I do), but it was just random for her to do. But after purchasing that cup, I now know why she read it to us, and where I belong 🙂 Image

DROP EVERYTHING YOU’RE DOING AND LISTEN TO THIS

I’ve been obsessing over this album since it came out. It’s an instrumental album of the oceans. MIND BLOWN MAN. It is the most beautiful music I have ever heard. Close your eyes and listen to the different oceans and try to guess which one is which. You might be surprised…. 😉 Sleeping At Last (the band, actually it’s just one guy) has a collection of these “Atlas” albums. He has Oceans, Space and Land. THEY ARE ALL SO AMAZING. It’s crazy to think how one guy can write songs about space and land. Like how does one put emotional and physical lyrics into what space looks like or how land feels? That just blows my mind.

Oh and if you don’t have Spotify…..you should get Spotify, no charge to sign up, free music. WHAT.EVEN.

G’Day fellow music lovers. Thursday was a freaking amazing day, I found out that I am #40 in Reverb Nation’s Top 40 artists. I put out one, ONE song and Im in their Top 40. HOLY FREAKING CRAP. So I decided to share my music on here for all of you who are interested. Right now I’m just doing covers, but I’m hoping this summer I’ll be able to put up some of my own original music on Reverb Nation. (If you don’t know what Reverb Nation is you should check it out, ESPECIALLY if you’re a musician). My music blog is http://annamariethomasmusic.wordpress.com, it’s not up just yet, I’m still trying to figure out how to post my music on it without posting it through YouTube. If anyone knows how to do that please feel free to advise me in the comments. 🙂
